Toy Libraries celebrate 40 years
2nd November 2007Since the first Toy Library was opened, 40 years ago, more than 1,000 toy libraries have been established across the country, with more than 250,000 children able to play each year through toy lending and borrowing.

Research shows that toys enable children to play for longer and can help with the development of cognitive and social skills. Toy libraries offer children the chance to try out toys and can offset the effects of poverty and disadvantage. They can also offer specialist toys and games to families with disabled children.
