Achieving Quality Accreditation
The development of high quality childcare and early education services is one of the key elements of the Sure Start agenda and the government's Ten Year Strategy for Childcare.
Although most providers have to meet minimum regulation standards, taking part in a quality assurance scheme is an important way of improving quality. Achieving an appropriate quality assurance award is also a good way of helping parents to identify good quality provision. It is also proven that those settings committing to the quality accreditation process make more successful businesses.
There are numerous different schemes that all meet the government's 'Investors in Children' standard but in order to ensure that we can provide the best support, Walsall has decided to recommend the following to its providers.
- Childminders - Quality First (NCMA)
- Day Nurseries - Quality Counts (NDNA)
- Out-of-School Clubs - Aiming High (4Children)
- Early Years Education Settings - Effective Early Learning (EEL)
- Playgroups - Aiming for Quality (PLA)
Depending on circumstances, the Early Years Unit can provide funding, mentor support and training to help you achieve your award.
