Choosing Childcare

Choosing the best childcare for your child is a big decision. Here are some things to check when you visit:

Are the facilities clean/safe including toys/equipment?
Are staff experienced, well trained and qualified?
Does the setting have a quality assurance award?
Is there outdoor play space?
Can I see your registration certificate/inspection report?
Ask to see the registration certifcate and Ofsted inspection report. These reports are available on the Ofsted website.
Are the staff friendly and approachable?
Are they joining in with the children?
Do they offer a settling in period?
What type of activities will my child be doing?
What type of activities are children doing?

It is important to visit more than one setting or provider to compare what they offer and to see which one suits your child's needs.
