Setting up group care
It takes a lot of commitment both personal and financial to set up any sort of group day care for children. The Early Years Unit are available to offer a range of information, support and advice but here is a checklist of things to think about or do to help you decide if you have what it takes.
Supply and demand - Do your market research:
- Is there a gap in the services available to parents in the area you are looking at?
- What already exists and are there any new developments planned?
Site:
- Is the site/building that you are considering appropriate to the type of business that you are looking to establish?
- How much building/conversion work would be required?
- Is there good access/space for parking?
Staffing and Organisation:
- What experience do you have of the sector?
- Who will run the business? Are they appropriately qualified?
- How will you ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations?
- How will the setting be organised?
Funding:
- How will you fund the initial development?
- How long will it take to become viable/break even?
- Will you need any business support?
If you feel that you have what it takes and you think that there is a real need for what you are proposing, please contact us.
